Obama’s “46 Lies” - Claim 30: I Am Not Acting As President Yet

As discussed in “Obama’s “46 Lies” - True or false?“, I want to look into many of Barack Obama’s supposed lies and figure out if they are in fact truly lies or just simply an attempt to throw dirt at him.

Now I will look at my “favorite” so far, claim 30:

30.) I Am Not Acting As President Yet - LIAR, after the NAFTA Memo, a dead terrorist in the FARC, in Colombia, was found with a letter stating how you and he were working together on getting FARC recognized officially.

This one is utterly ridiculous. This is what apparently happened:

The Colombians captured two FARC terrorist laptop computers at the terrorist camp. The Colombians discovered a treasure trove of information on the laptops including:

– FARC connections with Ecuadorean president Rafael Correa
– Records of $300 million offerings from Hugo Chavez
– Thank you notes from Hugo Chavez dating back to 1992
– Uranium purchasing records
– Directions on how to make a Dirty Bomb

But, no one expected this—
The FARC Terrorists were hoping and expecting that Barack Obama would win the US elections in November because he was most aligned with the Colombian Marxist group.
This document was posted at Martha Colmenares (in Spanish) and Free Republic:

6. The gringos will ask for an appointment with the minister to solicit him to communicate to us his interest in discussing these topics. They say that the new president of their country will be Obama and that they are interested in your compatriots. Obama will not support “Plan Colombia” nor will he sign the TLC (Colombian Free Trade agreement). Here we responded that we are interested in relations with all governments in equality of conditions and that in the case of the US it is required a public pronouncement expressing their interest in talking with the FARC given their eternal war against us.

Are you kidding me? Some terrorists in Columbia speculate about what an Obama administration might be doing and you interpret that as “Obama acting as president” and “working together” with terrorists? Whoever originally made this claim needs to get their head checked.
Well, I have checked four of the claims so far, and none of them were true. I think one thing is clear: everybody who forwards such a list of lies without fact checking them first (and not stating that these claims are unverified when forwarding) is acting highly irresponsible.

Obama is Chauncey Gardener in the Peter Sellers movie, “Being There”.

As a libertarian I definitely disagree with some of Obama’s proposed policies, but one cannot argue that he lacks substance. Just go to his website and read his proposals.

One can definitely disagree on the merit of his proposals - but he is intelligent, educated and has a level of integrity I have not witnessed in a successful politician in a long time.

I’m relieved to see that there is someone rebuffing all of the outright BS that is circulating right about now with respect to Mr Obama. It is truly amazing [and sobering I might add] to see how far this country’s reactionaries are willing to go to get back into office—-but then again, should we really be surprised at this point? Nonetheless, in my own tiny little campaign I have left numerous comments challenging these sorts of lies on many ultra-conservative sites which aren’t far off the beaten path from the likes of Rush Limbaugh and such; and although I left nothing specifically critical of conservatives themselves — only challenged the principles they have chosen to smeer Obama with and my comments were immediately removed. So, there is not even a chance of dialogue to flow from Left to Right —- it is only Right to Left on their sites. So—-let it flow from Right to Left I say, because that’s exactly what must ultimately happen anyway. They can resist it all they want, but they will lose in the end, because Change comes whether we like it or not; and it is definitely Change the WE can believe in that WE are after even if they do not believe in it too.

You are right - there is no possibility for a dialogue these days. I read some right-wing blogs to get a feeling for what they are thinking and discussing - it’s mainly “liberals this” and “liberals that”. Rarely do you find an in-depth analysis of issues. It truly is sobering.
